The Black Phone 2 trailer has struck a chord with the fans of the prequel.

Black Phone 2 is one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2025. The fact that its trailer has performed well and received a good response from the global audience sets the expectations soaring for Scott Derrickson‘s sequel to his 2021 hit Black Phone.

Veteran actor Ethan Hawke will be reliving his iconic and critically acclaimed role of ‘The Grabber’ in the second installment of the Black Phone franchise. Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Arianna Rivas, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora form the other crucial cast of the movie. Thames and McGraw did a magnificent job in Black Phone 2021. They impressed with their screen presence and impactful performances.

The trailer of The Black Phone 2 does appear to be quite intense. It promises a more complex yet satisfactory storyline backed with edge-of-the-seat horror stuff. The eerie atmospheric settings in the first movie (Black Phone, 2021) were a crucial factor in making it more appealing. However, the upcoming sequel looks like to be relying more on twists and turns in its storyline.

‘The Grabber’ (Ethan Hawke) returns to haunt his victims again and falsify the rumors of him being dead. Also, some of the night scenes in the trailer and haunting shots in the snowy atmosphere emerge as main highlights that bind the interest of the horror audience in the sequel.

The Black Phone, released about four years ago, was more of an establishment of the initial plot. In Black Phone 2, the actions of the main antagonist seem to be a bit more personal. The trailer reflects a touch of sinister vengeance.

When will Black Phone 2 hit the theaters, and expected impact

Black Phone 2 is slated to hit the theaters on October 17, 2025. This embarks a Halloween month release for Scott Derrickson’s directed movie. Almost a month and a half after ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’, which is scheduled to release on September 5, 2025. The latter is regarded as another highly anticipated horror release of 2025.

The current year (2025) has seen some disappointing results for the horror audience. Apart from The Sinners and Nosferatu, none of the major horror-thriller movies have been able to strike a cohesive chord with the cinemagoers and the box office. However, the fall months can bring in some substantial treats for the genre fans.

Some of the recently released horror movies like – The Monkey, The Woman in the Yard, Until Dawn, and Drop haven’t been able to touch any significant margin on the domestic and global box office. This makes the highly anticipated upcoming ones like Together, The Conjuring: Last Rites, and Black Phone 2 even more crucial for the horror genre.
