UEFA Europa League final 2024-25: Final ScorelineTottenham 1-0 Man United

Tottenham Hotspur managed to end their 17-year-long trophy drought by clinching the UEFA Europa League 2024-25 title. Ange Postecoglou’s side defeated Man United by a narrow margin of 1-0 at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, to lift the prestigious European trophy. It was the year 2008 when Spurs last lifted a major trophy.

Both the Premier League clubs made the finals of the competition by winning their respective semifinal games across the two legs on aggregate. While Tottenham defeated Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt by an aggregate scoreline of 5-1 across two legs, United triumphed over La Liga side Athletic Club by a whopping aggregate margin of 7-1.

Brennan Johnson‘s 42nd-minute goal proved enough for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur to win the Europa League final. Despite a few edgy moments close to the end of the game, Spurs managed to see out any potential Man United goal threat to maintain their lead throughout the course of the game.

Tottenham played most of the game out of possession, with Man United seeing at least three times more of the ball than them. Despite that Spurs looked comfortable with their game plan.

However, one can’t argue with the fact that the 2024-25 Europa League final may go down as one of the least engaging finals to watch in recent times, as both teams looked far from their best on the very day.

Considering Tottenham Hotspur’s lacklustre Premier League form in the 2024-25 season, Ange Postecoglou‘s future as the club’s manager has been under jeopardy. Postecoglou’s rigid playing style has also come under question in recent times when his team have been outplayed in the league.

With Spurs set to finish below the 13th position in the Premier League this campaign, the Europa League looked as the only path for Postecoglou and his team to revive their disappointing season.

The victory in the competition’s final not only provided Tottenham with a qualification for the next season’s UEFA Champions League, but it can also serve as a life-jacket for Postecoglou’s managerial reign at the North London-based club.

Europa League title might end up buying him more time than one could think of, taking Spurs’ standings in the Premier League table into consideration, coupled with their failure to win any of their last five league games going into the final match of the season.
