Arsenal completes Martin Zubimendi deal; eyes Madueke: Reports

Arsenal seals Martin Zubimendi transfer move and agrees personal terms with Noni Madueke

Premier League club Arsenal has been quite patient in the ongoing summer transfer window up until now, before the start of the 2025-26 season. The Gunners have been watching from one corner as their rivals, like Man United, Liverpool, and Man City, have been making all the right moves by bringing in players.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side have got the first one through the door just before the end of the first week of July.

The Gunners have managed to strengthen their midfield by bringing in a Spanish international midfielder. A player who has long been on their transfer target list. Whether this will be the beginning of a fruitful 2025 summer transfer window for the Gunners. We are here to find out.

As per ‘Sky Sports’, Arsenal has completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The 26-year-old arrives at the North London club from La Liga side Real Sociedad. Fabrizio Romano, earlier in the month of May 2025, posted on his official ‘X’ about Zubimendi verbally agreeing to pen down a long-term deal at Arsenal.

Romano at that time insisted that the formal steps involved in finalizing Zubimendi’s transfer to Arsenal would soon follow. Also, the reports suggested that the Gunners are likely to trigger the €60 million (approximately £51 million) release clause in the Spanish player’s contract at Real Sociedad.

It must have been sweet music to the ears for Mikel Arteta that everything has gone as planned, and now Martin Zubimendi is an Arsenal player. The 26-year-old becomes the North London club’s first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window. It is quite likely that Zubimendi will play a crucial role in the midfield for Arsenal in the times ahead.

As reported by ‘Transfer News Live’ on ‘X’, Arsenal has agreed upon personal terms with Chelsea‘s winger Noni Madueke. Further, Fabrizio Romano has pointed out that the 23-year-old player has given a nod to the Gunners for a potentially long-term deal running till 2030.

Romano has also laced out that Arsenal’s management is preparing to table an initial bid for Madueke. The winger’s current contract at Chelsea does run till June 2030. Despite the earlier reports indicating that the English player might not be in Enzo Maresca‘s plan for the 2025-26 season, it will take a decent chunk of transfer fee for Arsenal to get a potential deal for him over the line.

Noni Madueke made 32 appearances for the Blues in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. He churned out 7 goals and had 4 assists to his name during these appearances. His most notable contribution for Enzo Maresca’s side came in the earlier part of the season. It was when he scored a scintillating hat-trick against Wolves at Molineux in a 2-6 win for Chelsea.

Though Chelsea are looking active in the ongoing summer transfer window as far as incomings are concerned, there might be some notable outgoings as well.

What could potentially benefit Mikel Arteta if Arsenal does manage to bring in Madueke is his capability to play on both sides of the pitch. Though he mainly plays as a right winger for the Blues, he can be effective from the left wing as well. His pace and finishing ability can give Arteta a really decent option to bring on from the bench in crunch match situations.
