Joao Palhinha continues to deliver in crucial moments for Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese midfielder stepped up against Wolves in the closing stages of the Spurs’ latest Premier League game. Palhinha scored in the added time of the 94th minute to rescue a point for Thomas Frank‘s side.
Despite a good start to the match in the first half, Tottenham’s control over the game began to fade as the game progressed. Seemingly, as Vitor Pereira switched to a back 5 after halftime, it made Wolves difficult to break down, cutting out the attacking width that Spurs were enjoying in the first half.
The visitors then utilized the counterattacking situations well and looked like a threat going forward. The breakthrough came for Wolves through a corner which defender Santiago Bueno bundled in to give his side a crucial 0-1 lead in the 54th minute. Tottenham Hotspur then huffed and puffed, but clear-cut chances were far from their reach.
Thomas Frank made substitutions, but Wolves seemed determined to hold on to their lead. At last, in an attacking moment for Spurs at the edge of the Wolves’ box, a ball popped up to Joao Palhinha, who put it past Sam Johnstone in the right corner through the Wolves’ defense, finding an equalizer and rescuing Spurs from the jaws of defeat.

Palhinha now a crucial player for Thomas Frank at Spurs

Joao Palhinha, earlier this season, delivered a top-notch performance and scored for Tottenham Hotspur against Man City at Etihad. That showing against a tough Pep Guardiola’s side reflected how important a player he could be for Thomas Frank going forward.
The 30-year-old midfielder then stepped up against Doncaster in the third round fixture of the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) to score Spurs’ first goal. These goal contributions are acting as an icing on the cake to his rigorous presence in the midfield for Tottenham.
Palhinha ties down the opponents’ momentum during attacking situations, often wins the ball back, gets crucial tackles right, and possesses the ability to pick a precise forward pass. Now, the midfielder, finding his goal-scoring touch in recent times, can elevate Thomas Frank’s overall game plan at Spurs.
