Thunderbolts* has surely arrived among the global audience with tons of expectations. Every time a Marvel movie hits the theaters, something explosive in terms of cinematic landscape and the Superhero characters is the least that the audience could ask for.
It was evident from the initial trailer of the Thunderbolts* that it could offer something uniquely different from Marvel Studios’ other Superhero flicks in recent times. However, this assembled cast affair has a couple of really strong points that could hook the viewers and make it a memorable watch.
The distinct vibe between the lead characters in Marvel’s Thunderbolts* shines

Even though initially, to start off with the premise of the movie, the lead characters do not look to be in too much awe of each other, but the way the story/script slowly and gradually builds a cohesive bond between them is commendable. What’s more drool-worthy is that the built-up chemistry between our so-called Superheroes engages the audience.
That said, the characters never really stop throwing bitter one-liners towards each other. Most of them consistently even steer away from calling themselves a team. But, there lies a hidden aura of an ‘assembled by destiny’ kind of vibe in whatever they do together. This really separates the movie from any other assembled star cast superhero flicks. It ends up giving director Jake Schreier‘s Thunderbolts* a distinctive edge.
Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan’s measured performances in Thunderbolts*
With her character named Yelena Belova, Florence Pugh as Black Widow, is the shining light of the Thunderbolts*. The actress showcases her versatility through a really measured performance. By the time the movie nears the halfway mark, one can really insert that no one else could have played the Black Widow with so much effortless charm on screen. From the action sequences to the emotional moments, it really looked like Florence Pugh put her heart and soul into the character.
The other pillar of the Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is Sebastian Stan. The actor catches the essence of his character, named Bucky Barnes, quite meticulously. He is moody, slightly introverted, but yet possesses that firepower to surprise you when needed. It is worth mentioning that one of the most sleek and beautifully executed action sequences of the movie, falls in Sebastian Stan’s lap, and boy, he does wonder to it by completely nailing it. Whenever he comes on the big screen, his scenes are easily able to hook the audience.
The remaining notable cast members—Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Geraldine Viswanathan– also fit their characters perfectly.
Thunderbolts* has churned in a whooping worldwide opening weekend box office number of around $162.1 million (via: Box Office Mojo) upon its theatrical release on May 2, 2025.
