Premier League club Wolves‘ striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has been the subject of discussion in the recently concluded 2025 summer transfer window. The Old Gold’s Norwegian forward attracted transfer interest from Wolves’ league rivals Newcastle United.
However, with only a few days left in the transfer window when Newcastle’s interest officially surfaced, Wolves were reluctant to let Strand Larsen leave.
While the club has managed to keep hold of him for now, a further attempt by Newcastle United or any other top club remains in the hunt as the January transfer window approaches. Perhaps to deal with any such possible situation, and keep hold of Jorgen Strand Larsen for as long as they can, the Midlands-based club has identified a suitable path.
As per the renowned football journalist ‘John Percy‘, writing for ‘The Telegraph‘, Wolves have currently opened contract talks with Jorgen Strand Larsen. The club wants to reward the 25-year-old striker with an improved contract/deal. This, of course, comes after his successful first Premier League season with Wolves, combined with a strong summer transfer window interest from Newcastle United.
Jorgen Strand Larsen is important for Wolves’ survival
One major thing coming out of the report is that the new contract might not have a release clause in place for the Norwegian forward. Jorgen Strand Larsen netted 14 goals for Wolves in a tough 2024-25 Premier League season for them. Vítor Pereira’s side might have lost out on a potential midfield signing in the summer transfer window, but keeping Strand Larsen remains a silver lining for the club.
While the striker hasn’t netted for Wolves in the opening two matches of the 2025-26 EPL season so far, he scored two goals for Vítor Pereira’s side in a crucial 3-2 win over West Ham United in the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) 2nd round at Molineux.
The 25-year-old forward remains a crucial player for the Old Gold in terms of their hopes of having a decent 2025-26 Premier League campaign and avoiding any possible relegation threat.
