The Conjuring: Last Rites has hit the global theaters on its scheduled release date of September 5, 2025. Directed by Michael Chaves, the horror movie is the fourth in the Conjuring franchise, and perhaps is the last as projected to be. Since the first trailer of the film was released, there has been a sense of curiosity among the audience to witness how the saga of this famous horror franchise ends.
Well, with such high expectations, movies of this caliber often include the risk of falling flat in fulfilling the potential. However, the newest movie in the Conjuring franchise hooks a viewer in from the very beginning to the end credits. The story sees a similar pattern to the previous movies in the franchise, with the Warrens ultimately coming to the rescue of a particular family haunted by a supernatural force.
The construction of the plot, and the emotions surrounding all of it, with a greater touch of focus on the lead characters’ own family life, their daughter, and their reluctance to further involve themselves in such craft, builds a unique sense of on-screen tension that further elevates the weight of the things to follow.
The Conjuring: Last Rites – other aspects and performances

The pacing, chills and thrills, horror elements, inter-connection of the events, compelling moments, dark humor, vivid cinematography, all add to a screenplay that holds its path throughout the run time of the movie. Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren and Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring: Last Rites deliver one of the best performances of their career so far.
Other significant additions to the cast in the form of Mia Tomilson as Judy Warren (Warren’s daughter) and Ben Hardy as Tony Spera (Judy’s love interest) deliver honest and mature performances. The Conjuring: Last Rites might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But it has the enigma and potential to stand out as one of the best movies in the franchise, and possibly a great way to end it all.
