Vitor Pereira was the center of attention as Wolves suffered a 2-3 defeat against Burnley at Molineux. The loss puts the Old Gold in a tough situation. They are still winless after their opening 9 games of the 2025-26 Premier League season. Wolves have just 2 points to their name. The club sits at rock bottom in the league table at this stage in time.

Wolves suffered a bad end to the 2024-25 Premier League season under Vitor Pereira after his earlier 6-game-winning run helped them to avoid relegation comfortably. However, the club lost star players like Matheus Cunha and Ryan Ait-Nouri in the summer transfer window. The 2025-26 season started and is currently faring on similar lines as their end to the previous campaign.

Burnley was tipped as a must-win game for Wolves and Pereira to give themselves a boost in this season’s relegation fight. However, an early goal from the Clarets dealt a huge blow to Wolves’ hopes for 3 points. Scott Parker‘s Burnley struck again and went on to lead 0-2 in the game.

Wolves showed fight and spirit. The Old Gold turned the match scenario by scoring 2 goals before halftime to give themselves a chance. A Jorgen Strand Larsen penalty kick and a Marshall Munetsi header helped the hosts bring the scoreline to 2-2.

However, late in the second half, as the Old Gold pushed for a win, Burnley captured a moment presented to them as substitute Lyle Foster scored to give the visitors a huge win and all 3 points.

Now, the pressure certainly is looming large on Vitor Pereira’s position as Wolves’ manager. His tactics and in-game management have come under scrutiny in recent times as his side has failed to close out games.

The Old Gold manager also reportedly shared a heated moment/exchange with Wolves’ fans after the loss to Burnley. It will be intriguing to see if the Portuguese manager remains in charge at Molineux ahead of their next Premier League game against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
