The Housemaid movie will star Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in the lead roles. The psychological thriller will have Paul Feig as its director. The movie will be based on a novel by Freida McFadden, going by the same name. The scheduled release date of the movie is reported to be December 19, 2025.
Lionsgate Films and Starz Entertainment will act as the distributors for The Housemaid. Call it the effect of two of the leading ladies of the movie, the buzz for the project has been growing day by day. Recently, some of the first look pictures from the movie have surfaced online (as seen in the featured image and the picture below).
From the pictures released, one can infer that while Amanda Seyfried looks like the lady of the house, Sydney Sweeney could be playing the housemaid’s character. Sydney Sweeney’s recent two movies, ‘Eden‘ and ‘Americana‘, haven’t fared well at the box office. This makes The Housemaid more crucial for the actress.

Other than names like Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, The Housemaid will also star actors like Brandon Sklenar and Netflix’s ‘365 Days’ fame, Michele Morrone, in crucial roles. While the casting does look quite apt and fresh, it remains to be seen how things pan out for Paul Feig’s directed psychological thriller at the box office.
Having said that, we have yet to witness any teaser/trailer of the movie as of now. However, whatever is there to see, surely a decent amount of buzz will be there leading up to its actual theatrical release this December. If the marketing or promotional team plays its cards well, the movie seems to have all the ingredients to be a success.
The early images from The Housemaid look like a feast for the sore eyes. Adding to it, the factor of being an official adaptation of Freida McFadden’s successful novel will enhance the impact of the project and the audience’s excitement. Now, it may all depend on whether the makers of the movie will manage to pull it off on the big screen or not.
