Alien: Earth S1 E01 ‘Neverland’ analysis: FX’s new show delivers a stunning season opener

FX's Alien: Earth delivers a strong first episode

FX’s Alien: Earth is certainly one of the highly anticipated shows of 2025. The series created by Noah Hawley has been creating a lot of buzz leading to its official release on August 12, 2025. The show belongs to the sci-fi horror drama thriller genre.

The trailers of the show were enough to persuade viewers worldwide to wait eagerly for its first episode to air. A certain uniqueness and a potential game-changing plotline for the sci-fi horror genre are the expectations from Alien: Earth. Well, it is safe to say at this moment that the show is nailing it.

The opening episode of FX’s Alien: Earth packs a punch when it comes to cinematography. The visuals are quite breathtaking and look stunning. Whether it’s in the scenes depicting the space, outer earth, or in earth movements, everything just glides on the viewer’s screen. It completely matches and elevates the vibe of watching a sci-fi horror thriller drama series.

The series creator, Noah Hawley, has done an outstanding job. It can be difficult sometimes to maintain the audience’s interest while portraying a story of this kind, including all the technical aspects, without taking too many cinematic/creative liberties. But so far, Alien: Earth succeeds in delivering what it promised.

The way the season opener demonstrates and builds characters it’s quite applaudable. Episode 1 ‘Neverland’ of Alien: Earth doesn’t take time to engross its viewers, build a substantial plot, and establish lead characters. It is essential to note that all this has been accomplished while keeping the story moving forward, and that too without revealing much of the broader context.

Only time will tell how Noah Hawley’s show keeps the momentum going when its upcoming episodes air weekly. But it does seem like the season opener has all the elements in making of a memorable sci-fi horror drama series. Alien: Earth’s first two episodes are currently streaming on FX, Hulu, and Hulu on Disney+.

The show currently has an average rating of around 8.2 out of 10 by an approximate number of around 5.9K viewers (as per IMDB).
