The Conjuring: Last Rites has performed magnificently on the domestic and international box office. Directed by Michael Chaves and starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in lead roles, the horror movie has registered a humongous first weekend at the global box office.

After a record-breaking opening on Friday, the fourth, and possibly the last film in The Conjuring franchise, has somehow maintained its pace in terms of the numbers coming in. As per ‘Box Office Mojo‘, The Conjuring: Last Rites had a first weekend on the domestic box office of around $83 million.

If the opening Friday numbers for the horror movie were around $34.6 million, the following Saturday brought in another decent chunk of around $30.3 million. However, the first Sunday collections of about $18.1 million did witness a drop of approximately 40% from the Saturday.

The Conjuring: Last Rites – International box office

On the international front, the fourth movie in The Conjuring franchise has shown a strong hold after decent word of mouth. Reportedly, in its first weekend, the movie registered a staggering international box office number of around $104 million. This brings the accumulated global box office number for The Conjuring: Last Rites to $187 million on its first weekend.

These numbers are by far the best for any of the previous movies in the franchise. The Conjuring: Last Rites has already surpassed the international box office numbers of this year’s other Warner Bros. horror success, Sinners ($88.1 million). The fourth movie in the Conjuring saga has also leaped far beyond the 1st weekend numbers of Sinners ($48.007 million) and F1: The Movie ($57.001 million).

Now, it remains to be seen how well Michael Chaves’ directed movie holds up in its initial weekdays and closes it. Seeing the early trend, a domestic first week collection nearing around $115 million$125 million stays in the hut. Not to forget, the current feel/buzz surrounding the movie still seems quite effective.
