Madelaine Petsch returned as the main protagonist in The Strangers: Chapter 2. The movie is the sequel to the 2024 release The Strangers: Chapter 1. And is the second installment in The Strangers trilogy, as projected by the makers.

However, the second movie in the franchise hasn’t been able to achieve a fruitful run at the box office. After a mediocre first weekend at the domestic box office, The Strangers: Chapter 2 hung on as it completed a below-average first week run at the domestic box office.

Adding to its $5.8 million first weekend tally, the horror mystery closed its first domestic week at $7.89 million (via Box Office Mojo). The movie starring Madelaine Petsch reportedly added close to $2.09 million. The horror mystery flick collected $479,181 (Monday), $738,716 (Tuesday), $446,418 (Wednesday), $421,687 (Thursday) at the domestic box office.

As far as competing with the other movies running at the box office, The Strangers: Chapter 2 lagged significantly behind. The movie mostly ranked in the 5th or 6th (on the first Wednesday) slot, apart from its opening day position of 3rd.

On its second Friday, The Strangers: Chapter 2 maintained decent footfalls as it was able to garner a domestic collection nearing $865,000. This took the Madelaine Petsch-starring horror movie’s total gross domestic sum to around $8.75 million.

This sets up the Renny Harlin-directed movie to gather in the range of $9.7 million to $10.5 million by the completion of its second domestic weekend. Further, a projected total sum of around $12.4 million to $13.2 million from its 2-week run can be expected.

Following the recent trend of horror movies falling under a similar stretch, a lifetime domestic number falling between $16.5 million – $19.5 million looks on the cards. However, even if The Strangers: Chapter 2 manages that, it will still significantly fall short of its predecessor’s lifetime domestic haul of $35.20 million, which also had Madelaine Petsch in the lead.
